1.Question: I am very unfit, can I join the MCSA?
Answer: YES! We do a lot of very easy hikes. A certain level of fitness will be required on some of the more extreme hikes.
2. Question: How do I decide which section of the MCSA should I join?
Answer: You must join the section closest to where you live. See the links page for a link to the MCSA main pages. The Amajuba section is located in Newcastle, Northern KZN. Most of our members are from Newcastle, Dundee, Vryheid, Ladysmith, Volksrust, Ingogo and surrounding areas.
3. Question: May I participate as a non-member in a MCSA activity.
Answer: Yes. Non-members are required to pay a meet-fee. Non-members will not be allowed on some of the more extreme outtings, unless the non-member is known by someone the in the group.
4. Question: How regular do the MCSA Amajuba organize outings?
Answer: We try to organize at least one weekend and one day outing per month.
5. Question: How much are the membership fees of the MCSA?
Answer: Currently at MCSA Amajuba it cost R120 for family membership per year. There are discounts for students, school children, and pensioners. The membership fees are different between different sections of the Mountain club.
6. Question: Are the MCSA affiliated to any international organization?
Answer: Yes. The MCSA are affiliated to the UIAA.
7. Question: What are the benefits of joining the MCSA?
Answer: Sharing of resources, access to mountain areas, more members = more voice, the MCSA has more than 100 years of experience, affiliation to the UIAA, visit areas in the company of experience mountaineers.
